Annabel Taylor Chapel
Cornell University Baroque Organ Project Richard Hedgebeth
and John Holt ventured North on April 24 to attend an Open House for
the project under way.
The Göteborg Organ Arts Center leads the project which aims to reconstruct an organ built by the renowned German builder Arp Schnitger. The project is a collaboration of GoArt, Ithaca based master woodworkers Christopher Lowe and Peter De Boer who have built the magnificent casework of the organ and the Parsons Organ Company, builders of much of the mechanism. Opening programs are expected to occur in November. The early Helmuth Wolff organ previously in Annabel Taylor Chapel is now enriching the resources of the organ department at Binghamton University. This is thanks to the efforts of Jonathan Biggers in securing funding for the relocation and acoustical improvements in the recital space in which it's located. |
